A great find! This radio was made by Panasonic for the 1970 Osako Japan World Expo (which will be held again in 2025 in Osako) and WORKS great! This year is the 50 year anniversary of this retro item. This atomic age or mid-century modern piece resembles the atom as a red ball. It's about 4.5 x 4.5" and in great shape for its age and works just fine. I love this item and hope you've been searching for it! The AM radio Panapet 70 runs on a 9 volt transitor battery and has a metal chain made to hang from the rear view mirror of a car or wherever, and a plug-in earphone, a Groovy invention at the time. Earphone not included, but old IPHONe plug-ins work. Other stylish details are two chrome plated dials on the surface, ON for volume control, and one to TUNE in AM stations. Even cooler, the "tuning display window" is inset into the surface of the ball resembling a crater. Made out of hard plastic, panasonic manufactured a lot of these radios hoping they'd be popular for the EXPO. And they were. These radios were made to take a beating for teenagers and have stood the test of time. Be the first to hang it from your 70's-25 rearview mirror!
